Lalit Kolkata is my regular staying place when I come to Kolkata for technical audit work. Its tradition location and behavior/ attitude towards customer (I am a senior citizen travelling India and abroad regularly) This time when I listened the promo video on Lalit, I realized I already stayed in Lalit Ashok and Bangalore. May be next time I would visit Lalit Sri Nagar and Udaipur Also I realized Lalit Kolkata doing many humanitarian work by employing physically challenged, hearing and sight impaired people in appropriate places, so that they are brought up to the main stream. One particular instance I want to highlight is the timely intervention of Sri Dipankar who is attending the guests in the lobby, when I was finding it difficult to engage the lift due to key malfunction. The lift was not taking off from ground floor to fifth floor. Dipankar observed my situation, before asking him he came down and safely took me to room # 501. When I asked his name I realized that he is speech impaired! Wonderful experience!! All staff where ever they are assigned, was 100% customer focused. Whether it is dining hall, front office, house keeping....In front office I appreciate Sainur and Pradipta for their courteous behavior.

Our stay at The Lalit Great Eastern in Kolkata was incredibly comfortable. The high ceilings and spaciousness of our room beautifully reflected the hotel’s Victorian and Edwardian heritage, steeped in history since the 1840s. The staff were exceptionally helpful and welcoming, and the Hotel’s strong commitment to diversity and inclusion was very visible among the staff that served us. The hotel's central location made it easy to walk to New Market, and booking transportation was a breeze, thanks to their assistance at checkout. Breakfast featured a delightful spread with authentic Bengali flavors, including mishti doi (sweet curd) and luchi aloo (bread with potato). A special highlight was the enchanting performance by Breeti, who played the Dotara and sang folk songs, adding a unique touch to the experience. Overall, the ambiance was lovely, and I would definitely stay here again. A special thank you to the young man who helped me track my train live—your patience and support were greatly appreciated! Sorry I can’t remember your name.

Staff were very friendly and hospitable. It is a very old hotel, possibly the first 5 star hotel of India. It is slap bang in the middle of Kolkata (British Calcutta) town centre. The area was congested, as is expected. The steel beams still bears the logo that it was built in Middlesbrough. We stayed in one of the legacy rooms, which I loved. Felt that old colonial time charm! I kept wondering how life was hundred years ago when Calcutta was the capital of British India. The place is very charming. I loved it. The breakfast was very good. This might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but certainly was mine.

Everything is pleasant here. Breakfast includes a variety of Indian items such as dosa, uttapam, eggs, kachori, and chole, along with a good selection of fruits and beverages. The quality of the food is excellent. The pool appears to be unused. The hotel is situated in an area dominated by government offices, so it is very busy from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., but it quiets down significantly afterwards. If you're looking for a tourist area, this is not it. However, all major attractions are conveniently close to the hotel, and a short taxi ride will get you to them. Apart from all this thing, stuffs are awesome.

The hotel is ideally located in the center of the city close to many attractions. It is a beautiful heritage place, modern and yet full of history which I will miss certainly. The hotel is well-maintained and everything is clean. The gym is well equipped and a large pool invites one to a swim after a busy day. I enjoyed the large selection at the breakfast buffet and especially the very comfortable bed in the room. I can only recommend this place.
